Das Kurdische Filmfestival Berlin wurde 2002 unter der Schirmherrschaft des damaligen Regierenden Bürgermeisters Klaus Wowereit gegründet und war weltweit das erste Festival seiner Art.

Under the title “Between Memory, Identity, Deportation, and Renewal,” the festival explores a complex historical experience that continues to resonate within Kurdish collective memory.
